[:1]I made a threat earlier about how evil you want to be. Here is another topic: How dark do you want the story of GW2 to be?
Now being the hero you know you can't "lose". You might suffer from "game over". But you will get to retry again and again until you win. Instead, I consider a dark story as how terrible things can be for people who are close to you. And also the amount of injustice you see around you in your adventure.
1) So and so is dead - You will hear or see people die, but you barely know them. Or you are barely attached to them. For example Prince Rurik is dead. Master Togo is dead. Ok sad, but you barely know them. Who cares!
2) Friend is dead - Someone you know since childhood is dead. Or someone who saved you many times in combat is dead. There have to be a strong bond with the player, so that when he or she dies the player feels something. GW1 doesn't really have such a character. The closest was Kehanni, who introduced the player to the land of Vabbi.
3) You father/wife is dead - Close relatives are dead. The player must be shown some childhood memory to encourage a feeling of sadness. In GW1 the player had no known family so it is hard to relate. Cynn is the closest example, although she is a henchman.
4) You whole clan/town is dead - You get to know your whole village really well. You did some quests to help them out. And then the big bad wolves comes and kill everyone. You observed the slaughter in great detail but was helpless to stop it (unlike in GW1 where don't see much detail). Your aunt hide you in the well to keep you alive, before she herself was killed.
Following a dark beginning, the story will keep on being dark to the respective level. You will see other people suffering and tortured. You might fight your hardest for your country, only to be defeated again and again. Corrupted government will actually lead to people dying, unlike in GW1 where the Canthan people only suffered minor-ly.
So, how dark do you want GW2's story to be?|||I want my GW2 storyline to be as dark as Lord Blackadder donning blackface makeup at an oil spill and lamenting "A Thanksgiving Prayer" by 'William S. Burroughs' in the style of 'Oceano', in Vogon, at midnight during a blackout, with my eyes shut.
Dark enough?
-Art|||I picture you making these threads while sitting in the basement in the middle of a pentagram, surrounded by candles, while trying to stab yourself in the arm with a butter knife.
Just sayin'.|||Quote:

My village is not dead because the evil powers see no point in killing them. Instead, they are slaves to a curse. They are still fully conscious, but they are controlled by malevolent spirit-like creatures which look like spiders and which live under their skin. Not only are the townspeople controlled by them, they are also eaten from the inside by them. Therefore, they (the townspeople) have to pray on each other. They can no longer eat regular food, so they are forced to eat babies. Fortunately (for them), they have a nearly endless supply of babies, because the curse they are under will cause rape victims to always become the equivalent of 9 months pregnant in only one day.
Now that's for the introduction quest.|||Haha that's funnyyyyy.
Tho i would be all for a dark story. I like stuff like that
Sent from my G2. lulz what typos?|||Without traveling companions the way Bioware does it, I can't see anyone getting all teary eyed over anyone's death in the game.
I think Bioware, when given the time and resources, does the best job of storytelling. I loved the origins stories of Dragon Age, except they didn't let me be suicidal and die with my family. I just don't see the storytelling in an mmo reaching that level.|||Quote:

But what good will praying do them in that situation?|||as dark as a badgers armpit|||Quote:

Nooooo I meat prey not pray... Just a typo. Amway they could be praying for death, witch would be the only relief from the course. But their prayers would be in vein because the curse also makes them immoral. So there fate is to be forever trapped in pain and mystery.|||Oh I knew what you meant, I was just being a dick.
Good save though, we'll go with that.
