“We haven’t decided on what exactly we are or aren’t going to offer for money post-release. We’re open to whatever our players seem most interested in. If, after release, you guys would like more story content, more dungeons, more events, more maps or whatever, it’s something that we have to consider because ultimately making you happy is what makes us successful. Whether we release that in DLC (like the bonus mission packs in GW1) or whether we do it through expansions (Like Eye of the North) is yet to be determined. As to whether or not there are going to be items like XP boosts available in the in game store, I can only reiterate what we’ve said before (and will continue to say,) that we’ll release details on it when they are available, and that our core philosophy of not requiring you to spend additional money to play the game and not making the game difficult or painful to play in order to encourage you to buy things from the store still stands.”
This is at least the second time I've read a quote from someone at ArenaNet where they say they're looking for input from the community on what we want to see offered for cash in the GW2 store. While some specifics will have to wait for GW2 to be released, here's the broad strokes on how I feel about cash items and GW2;
Anything that is cosmetic only is absolutely fair game for the store. Skill, pet, and eventually CE item packs are fine with me. Storage upgrades, character slots, both fine with me. Transmogrifier stones I'm ok with, but would appreciate an in-game way of earning them too. BMP type stuff is also ok with me as long as it's meaty enough for the price (Anet, you haven't skimped yet, but please no light weight fluff at a $10.00 price!). Please NO xp potions! You've said progression is going to be steady and even part-timers will feel accomplishment from their day's activity, so just NO. Absolutely NO necessary items or uber items for cash!!!!! I'm planning on buying GW2 CE as soon as it's available. There is almost no way I won't buy it. Anet, if you want to alienate me as a customer, add necessary items to the store, then I'll never play another Anet game. That's how I feel.|||On character clots: I'm highly, highly hoping there will be enough for all the professions in the game starting out of the box.
Otherwise, I pretty much agree with the Bilbo post above.|||Character slots, no character slots for sale.|||Yes on character slots, purely cosmetic stuff (especially if unlockable like costumes and /bonus), unlock packs for dyes etc. Also, totally yes to added content like dungeons, BMPs, etc.
No to anything giving an in-game advantage, even if the advantage is economic. Maybe if the economic advantage is small and non-tradeable.
Absolutely no to anything that boosts XP, rep, or anything else like that. Absolutely no to any items that give you bonuses you can't get otherwise.|||I would like to see:Character slots
More storage space
Changing a character's name
Changing a character's face, hair or body
Solo content like the BMP
I would not like to see:Anything that can be traded between players
Anything that gives any kind of buffs to characters
Any kind of experience boost or any kind of potion
Skins available in the game (such as if FoW armor were sold at the GW1 store)
Dungeons I'm not sure... I would rather not see individual dungeons being sold, rather a single big dungeon pack (as a single pack would avoid fragmenting the community too much). Likewise, I'm not against selling things like the GW1 costumes, but I would rather see them in some kind of pack, as the price we currently pay for the costumes is very high.
What I would really like is more BMP content: side stories from the point of view of someone other than our characters, offering solo missions with mechanics that would not work in the main game itself. We could play as one of the antagonists, as a GW1 NPC, as a common NPC in some big historical event (such as the Foefire), etc...

Agree with most everything you listed except this. Please allow us to change our hair style for in-game gold instead of RL $! All the rest - name, race, face, height, gender, etc, can stay as is.
I'd really like to be able to drop some gold to get a hair style for a particular outfit rather than reaching for my credit card. There are some really interesting hair styles that I will never choose because they only go well with a small number of armors. I always end up with the more generic ones that will look good with a wider range of attires.
I don't mind paying $$ to unlock additional hairstyles btw, so long as I can then pay in-game gold to switch back and forth.|||Quote:

I pretty much agree with all of this, except that I have no trouble about skins being sold that are not available in game. The BMP added some cool weapon skins not available in game otherwise and I had no trouble with those, though admittedly I have the BMP.
Adding new dungeons, via DLC, would work for me too again as long as the content is worth the price. Dungeon packs would be preferable to single dungeons. And since the dungeon comes with a new weapons and armor set, it essentially adds items that are not available in game otherwise, (as long as the item isn't tradeable or is customized) but I'm ok with that.
As far as name/face/body goes, I would definitely prefer an unlock pack vs a single change of appearance. Ie you unlock the new appearance and then can change your character to that appearance multiple times. Perhaps for a nominal in game gold fee.|||Things I am fine with:Character slots (these are a given)
Skill unlocks
Minipets (IF they are non-tradeable), costumes/bonus weapons (as long as it isn't to a ridiculous extent, how they handled it in GW1 was fine)
Character makeovers
Things I am not fine with:Any sort of stat boost, temporary or permanent. I have faith that ANet isn't anywhere near stupid enough to go down that road, but it's worth mentioning.
Items that allow you to change otherwise permanent decisions about your character, such as profession choice. If they want to add such a thing, it should be achievable in-game. (Makeovers are the exception, since they are entirely cosmetic.)
Any item that can then be sold in-game, creating an "ANet-approved" real money trading scenario.
Things I am concerned about:Transmutation stones. I'm still unsure on whether I'd be fine with these being cash shop only. The real money trading concern above applies as well.
Store-exclusive dye. Like with t-stones, I'm not sure how I'd feel about this. (Dye that could be obtained either in-game or in-store, however, would be fine.)
Content. As the OP said, "no light weight fluff". If ANet wants to release dungeons or whatnot as standalone purchases, it better be comparable in price to non-store content (i.e. the base game and any boxed expansions).
Character slots, IF it turns out we only get something like four character slots to start with. I'd say the minimum would need to be {(profession count) - 2}, like in GW1.|||I'm actually more or less ok with T-stones being available in the game store. They're cosmetic items and don't give you any real advantages in the game.
Things that would also be ok are:
- Pets, miniatures
- storage
- Changing names
- Character slots (though it would be nice if we got 5 automatically from the game so we could make one of each race)
Not sure/not okay with:
- I'd actually like it if we could just change our appearances in game with gold, but it won't kill me if we had to buy a cosmetic pack from the store.
- Exclusive dyes....I'm still not sure about this one. I liked that we didn't have to buy our dyes in GW1, but at the same time it would be another way for Anet to make more money. Meh, I wouldn't be too happy if they sold it in the store, but then again, it is cosmetic....:/
-Edit: It isn't set in stone yet, but I'm not ok with them selling us things like areas and new dungeons. Why not just make a whole expansion and sell that? I'm betting it would be more profitable for them to just sell the digital content, rather than having to pay for packaging etc. but as a player, I'm not keen on this. Please just release expansions for us to buy, Anet.
- Anything that would give people an unfair advantage. But I trust that anet wouldn't sell things like that, so I'm not too worried.|||Quote:

This is something I would not mind seeing, actually, and something I'd prefer to a store only skin. (Someone could either get it by buying it, or by playing through the game to get it, so it would just be a convenience payment.)
