Guild Wars 2 Q & A on New York Post

http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/gamere...TgcqtpP063qkxO
Not too much new, but a couple interesting tidbits I noticed.
Eric said that it would take several hours to walk from one end of the world to the other. Sounds like we'll get to do some serious exploring. Yay!
He also said that the later levels currently only take around 90 minutes per level to cap. I could certainly live with that. :)
It's also rather cool to have a decent article in a popular paper like the New York Post instead of just a gaming mag.|||This is part 2 of Anet's devious plan of conquering the world.
They now switched from game sites to non-game sites.
I approve our new Overlords.|||'Only' 90 minutes per level? Please tell me their joking.|||Quote:

They can even put our game down for a period of time and pick it back up later, perhaps when we release some expansion content or when we hold one of our holiday events.

This bit towards the end certainly isn't new. In fact, I remember reading this sort of thing from Anet back in '05 when I was doing a bit of research into online games to see if I could find one worth playing.
Statements like this were the main reason I bought GW.|||Well, not the most original questions but still a good read. I was hoping for some more info on races like would my Asura warrior be as good as a Norn warrior or there will be "LF Warrior - only Human or Norn, no Asura nubs"|||Quote:

If there's tons to do after level 80, which I suspect there will be, then I don't see it as being a problem, or very much different from the way things were done in GW1. In other words, character progression isn't as important as playing the story.
I may very well be mistaken, but that's how I hope it will be.|||As long as XP grind doesn't slow my progress, I don't care. It could take 100 years to level from 79 to 80 for all I care, provided it doesn't affect gameplay.
But, knowing that level does affect gameplay, then I have to ask... for a character rushing to level 80, how much will I be slowed down by XP grind?|||Quote:

The "only" in the post you responded to is in quotation marks, so the surprise is about that being a long time rather than a short time.
If you work out 90 minutes per level, for 60-80 levels (depending on how the early ones go), that's 90-120 hours for a character, which at, say, 1-2 hours a day (per character at least, or for less intense players, total time), gives a few months to fully level a character. Which is awhile compared to original Guild Wars.|||One can do that in GW1 now in 2.5-3 hours or less.|||That's about the time it takes to level a Survivor (3) via normal gameplay.
That's fine for an optional title, not so fine if it prevents me from accessing endgame content. Even if gameplay is great, I'd still sometimes want to skip to endgame with a new character.
