So I saw a thread of a similar title down near the bottom of the form index and it sounded like an interesting topic of discussion for GW2.
We know that players in GW2 will get in-game recognition for things they've done (similar to achievements in other games). It's a way to encourage players to try something new, or do something in a way that is more challenging, or even just to give a goal to aim for. But what about Guilds? Guilds certainly have a kind of achievement system in GW1 as it pertains to GvG rating or Faction donation. Should it be extended to other types of play? Is it something that would be embraced by the community?
What other kind of perks could go along with guild achievements? Cape trims, town ownership and guild hall NPCs are current examples from GW1. Are there other types of rewards that make sense for guilds?
I kind of like the idea of having Guild birthday achievements.|||I hope they introduce more guild achievements. Doing things alone can be fun, doing it with a whole guild is even better.
Just don't make them the type of "the first guild to have 80% of their players max level get's it". That type of achievements will encourage grinding instead of cooperation. There is no need for time-attack type of achievements, at least in my opinion.
For rewards, I think the achievement iitself should be reward enough. If people aren't as cheap as me (lawl), one could give the guild some titles or maybe even some special skins (if guilds are able to craft weapons and armor of course).|||Quote:

I like that idea. If they plan to have guild halls, they could have the artists make a "birthday" version of each hall that is festooned with ribbons, balloons, elaborate cakes, and stuff like that. :-) It would autoload the birthday version of the guild hall on your guild's anniversary.|||AoC recently introduced a guild renown system where players earn renown for their guild by basically playing the game, so you get points for PvE,PvP and crafting. So guilds can earn extra buildings, statues, decorations, mounts, mini pets etc etc as they gain renown levels. Also the top guilds in each catagory, pve points, pvp points and crafting get their tag in gold, silver or bronze as they walk around.
It does'nt affect gameplay but is a nice system to get people playing together more. Unlike the GW faction system there is no decay so all guilds will eventually get something.
A similar system in GW2 Where you can earn extra guild hall decorations or personal 'fluff' would be a great addition IMHO.|||Quote:

I could live with this. The thing I have against town "ownership" is, eventually one guild gets over-powered and soon everything is owned by one guild. I've been playing PWI to pass the time between GW Beyond content, and everywhere you go in the world you see "owned by Enrage". Even if a group wanted to start a guild to compete, they would be crushed.|||i kinda hate how the kurz/lux works with PVP trough PvE, so i really hope PvP stays as far from PvE as technically possible.
