What do you guys think?|||Hm... I like it in general. There seems to be some level of realism in Human society and perhaps something of a darker side in contrast to the whole 'chivalry, hope, gods, justice, defending righteousness to the last breath' kind of thing they seemed to be about at first. I just worry that the story will end up demonizing Minister Caudecus instead of giving the character a choice.|||Wasn't too thrilled with some of the voice acting but overall it was ok. There was one noise in the background that I found rather distracting though... it kept sounding to me like someone turning pages.|||Yea some of it doesn't really feel like people talking TO each other. More like just 2 separate people reading scripts which has then been cut together.
I still like that arenanet makes an effort with this sorta stuff though, overall I'll remain positive since this is not supposed to be main story material but rather more like background noise. Looking forward to tomorrow already!|||I liked the depth of a lot of the topics discussed. Especially since these are examples of background conversations you can hear while simply exploring. I feel it adds a lot of depth and makes the world feel so much more alive. Really looking forward to the rest of the week.|||Good to see GW2 has the same ridiculous pop culture references!
Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!|||They did that in Dragon Age as well and I thought it was done really well. "Eavesdropping" into conversation of different townsfolk's gossip was one of the favorite things I liked to do in Dragon Age. Dragon Age went beyond that though. In fact, sometimes some of your companions would engage in a conversation all of the sudden. When that would happen, I would actually stop to listen to what they had to say. I LOVED those conversation because it is such an immersive way to tell a story without elaborate lore a la Tolkien or quest text wall of death.
I am so happy to hear that Anet is now working on a similar concept!
Any idea how many hours of this type of chatter we have, and how many megabytes this equals to?|||I played the first few seconds of a few of the soundfiles... I'll wait to hear them ingame instead.|||Quote:

According to an older blog article, the total amount of voice acting in the game is "the equivalent of more than 60 feature-length films" (so, in the 100+ hours range). File size will obviously depend on how compressed they are.
I've never been particularly impressed with the voice acting in Guild Wars, but even mediocre-level voicing adds a lot to the immersion. (Just so long as, you know, it isn't so bad it's distracting). Should be fun wandering around cities and overhearing conversations, just like catching all the text-bubble conversations in GW1 was.
As an aside, since this article focuses on voicing for humans specifically, I wonder if they'll do a corresponding article for the other races, and in what ways they'll differ.|||I hope they can make the voicing for other races as realistic as possible.
The voicing for Rytlock Brimstone is epic, so we've got a lead for the Charr. I just hope each race has a truly defining tone.
100-150 hours of voice acting is a colossal amount. That's an intriguing number and I'm very eager to jump into the game to hear it all.
