I was bored so I was looking over again at the info and images of the races and something came to mind. It seems odd that the more technically advanced races, Charr and Asura, are the ones that seem less physically suited to it. How they are able to manipulate small items with their claws is beyond me. In particular, the Charr have huge claws that make me wonder how they do anything at all... even eating seems like it would be a challenge unless they don't use their hands.
Since this is a game, it isn't something that will bother me in the slightest, but I just found it odd. Anyone else have anything that they have found odd, curious, or annoying about the races so far?
Oh yeah, one other thing, even though I'm glad they're doing it so players don't feel restricted, I'm thinking some Race/Profession combinations might end up being a little odd.|||You're absolutely right. I thought the same thing about the clawed Asmodians when I first played Aion.
Shouldn't this be in Lore though?|||I'd have gone with lore as well.
I find it odd you can summon a meteor in a cave.|||The meteor doesn't necessarily come from space, it is, as you said, summoned on the spot, right above the target.
But I know Akirai's point is that it doesn't matter in a fantasy game. It doesn't; but that doesn't make Rabid's comment any less valid.|||hm only thing I am thinking about is.
sylveria is the only one having a racial healing skills for others (correct me if I am wrong)
because I know that I am really going to miss playing my monk i will go some other supporter class. Wont everybody who wants to go supporter go sylveria?|||Sylvari? I don't know, I didn't read up about the Sylvari's racial skills yet.|||Quote:

It doesn't
Actually my remark was twofold:
(1) It's a fantasy game so bridge that chasm of disbelief.
(2) An 'it's odd that..' comment isn't really well, worth mentioning. I find it odd the sky is red in multiple maps. That's great for me, but creating a thread about it serves little purpose. Ergo, what does the OP want us to discuss in this thread? Just have everyone agree, or is he hoping for a plausible explanation, or what?|||It's hard for me to say, but... but... I agree. Yes, I do.
(it *would* serve a better purpose in the lore forums though)|||Quote:

I'd rather odd race-prof combos, than not having the option. Optimally though, they'd tap into that RP-wise, like charr not being happy with a charr elementalist, or an asuran ranger being seen as shunning technology.
People will make odd choices. I don't see why you can't make odd choices in fantasy games.
As for claws etc, yeah, funny. I guess the Charr & Asura are the most motivated and best resourced. Humans have not been able to pursue this as they've been on the decline, and fighting for survival. Norn just don't care about that. And Sylvari are just too new to have had the time to establish themselves.
Had history been different, I'd think humans could have had a shot at being technologically advanced, as is the case in RL.|||Charr claws are retractable, according to GoA. Therefore they don't get in the way of doing mechanical work.
