[:1]The Mod team is still talking about how to make the site fit for GW2. One of the best community created media content for GW1 were the armor threads in the profession forums, which featured great screen shots over the past six years.
With ten professions in GW1, ten threads are pretty much the limit at which content is spread very thin. An there is the problem for GW2:
In GW2 we will have additional races (total number of 5), eight professions (which might differ by available hairstyles and facial features) and three classes of armor (Light, Medium & Heavy). Just doing a little math shows, that we will have more options to categorize than in GW1.
What kind of organization method would you, as a community member favor:
1) Method 1
Race specific fine tuned threads (3 for each race): Charr Light Armor, Charr Medium Armor, Charr Heavy Armor ==> for a total of 15 threads
2) Method 2
Race specific general threads: Asura armor gallery, Charr armor gallery etc. ==> for a total of 5 threads
3) Method 3
Armor class specific threads: Scholar Armor gallery, Adventurer Armor gallery, Soldier Armor gallery (e.g. all characters that wear light armor post in the same thread) ==> for a total of 3 threads
4) Method 4
Class specific threads (1 for each class, similar to what we had in GW1): e.g. Necro gallery which will include pictures from all races ==> for a total of 8 threads
5) Method 5
"The biggest armor gallery ever forum" ==> Everyone posts in one big gallery thread
IMPORTANT: This poll will help us Mods decide what method to chose or to favor. The outcome of the poll might not decide what will be created in the end, but will help us come to a decision.|||Pretty sure we have 5 races...
Anyway, since there'll be racial armor (not sure if that was limited or not) and 3 types of armor that are otherwise identical for all classes, I'd say make the split on Armor Type.|||Method 3 seems to be the easiest one imo. But I also like Method 5.|||i think just a forum for each armor "class", no need to spread things to thin.|||Since anyone can wear any armor (within their type), why can't we just show it all off in one place? LotRO has a "Show off your favorite cosmetics" thread that's nearing 200 pages and an amazing place to get ideas for outfits for all your characters. I don't see any reason to subdivide it now that the system is more open here as well.|||Quote:

True, corrected post #1

I can see that working when everybody would tag his picture like: Charr - male - vanguard armor - medium armor - engineer
This way you could search the thread for stuff you would like to see. Too bad (and sad, but true) 95% of posters will be too lazy, ignorant or stupid to post the tags.|||Well, I think method 4 is out since profession has no bearing on which armor you can wear within your armor class. Methods 1 & 2 seem half out the door because, other than the sylvari, there won't be many (any?) race specific armors (hey, we might even be able to wear plant armor as a charr). Method 5 would be overload for my poor old addled mind, so please no (also, if I come into a thread that already has more than 20-30 pages, I usually don't bother with it).
Anyway, that's my reasoning for picking option 3.|||They said that each race would have a number of racial armors, but that said, I think they will still be codified as heavy/medium/ light. So I think method 3 is the way to go.
While breaking it down by race might be nice, I think fewer threads is more ideal.|||I do think option 3 would be the best, but if it turns out there is a lot of racial armors, and that you can wear each racial armor skin no matter what armor class you need then it might also be necessary to make threads for the racial armors in the correct places... that's a BIG if though. I have a feeling that racial armors will in fact have different skins depending on armor class. Don't believe it's been confirmed either way however, so keep that in mind.
I don't think I'd like option 5, as while some people don't mind looking through a 200+ page thread to browse through general content, I'm usually going into such threads looking for more specific info. If I'm looking for armor that looks good on a necro, I don't want to end up looking through 20 pages of blue mace lady pictures.
I'm almost tempted to say to make threads for each class, as I wouldn't necessarily want to look through pages of pretty elementalist pictures either, as a necro I'd be looking for darker colors than you'd see on a lot of eles. However, I have a feeling some classes will get more love than others so some of the threads would languish, and then when someone did ask for pics of a certain armor dyed a certain way... they'd just be told to go to a different class's thread as that armor combo was already posted there on page "xx". With all the dye combos, it would get to be a nightmare to know which ones are already shown on one of the other two classes's threads (or the other thread for heavy armor).|||How about this way:
Warrior
-Asura
-Human
-Charr
-Sylvari
-Norn
Ele
-Asura
-Human
-Charr
-Sylvari
-Norn
Necro
-Asura
-Human
-Charr
-Sylvari
-Norn
Engineer
-Asura
-Human
-Charr
-Sylvari
-Norn
And so on. This sounds like a way to organize pictures right down to their exact race and class. So if you want to look for charr necro armor you go to the necro category and then the charr section. This also lets people look at the topics in this place too and discuss things on this exact topic.
Anyone else agree or disagree?
