[:1]Part 1: Supporting the Community and Designing Dynamic Events
Part 2: Random GW2 Q&A
Part 3: GW 2 PvP Thus Far
I had the priveledge of going to PAX this last Sunday, got to see the sights and sounds, and went to two GW2 discussion panels.
Part 1 is about those panels. Part 2 is about questions players have sent me and the answers I found at PAX (or didn't find in the case of some).
Enjoy!
EDIT: All Done! Part 3 is up and ready for your ready enjoyment!|||Nice article, thanks. I am a bit worried about the "no guild halls" at launch. This and a few other comments along those lines has me worried that their "when it's done" is being severely challenged by NCSoft. Admittedly I hated the idea of the merger when I first heard about it, so there could be some personal bias, but it just sounds like they're getting pressured to meet a deadline. Also NCSoft has - on several occasions - mentioned an early 2012 release as if it were set in stone.|||I don't really care about some things not being implemented at launch. Something like a guild hall won't break anything imo. Sure, it would be nice but, it's not going to make the sky fall. If the mechanics for communicating are there, having that "place" shouldn't be that big of a deal.|||Some of the things not implemented in GW's launch:
- Rune Trader
- Sigil Trader (win HoH for a chance at a hall)
- Attribute Refunds Points were in it
- Cap Sigs required you to see the skill being used (stances didn't show, good luck capping them)
- 15k armor skins (Tormentors says hi)
Yeah, Guild Halls are kind of a big thing compared to them, but look at it the other way. If they plan on implementing Halls but can't promise them for launch, they have a general idea of a release date.|||Admittedly I was saddened by the fact it'll be awhile before we get guild halls, but at the same time, I didn't think we'd have general housing at ALL so I was pretty happy to find out that at some point we can all have houses, not just guilds in general.
I'm pretty stoked about there being many more armors for GW2 than there was for GW.
Besides...I'm fairly sure we'll just take over a keep and call it our "guild hall." Just one more driver for your guild to get involved in WvW.|||My point wasn't whether or not it was a big or little thing, it's just all these things seem (to me) to be pointing to some behind closed doors pressure from NCSoft. It just feels like maybe they're going back on their hands-off promise and telling Anet to "deliver already". Again, I don't trust NCSoft one bit, it just seems a bit weird to me.|||Well there is only so long you can fund development. This game needs to get done soon or they are going to begin to appear as vaporware to some people, hell I have even heard people say that GW2 is just vaporware. Now I don't believe that, but I am certain there has to be some pressure to finish this. No company can be patient forever waiting for the developers to finish. I mean developers would never get a game to market if it were for monetary constraints. Lets be honest they would keep tweaking for an eternity if someone wasn't telling them to get it finished.
So long as they have everything in that they have said they will, I am willing to wait for the rest of it.|||Mmmm, Guild Wars 2 without guilds? I'd stress about it if I was a Guild Leader.
Oh wait...
Bah, I hope they can get those done by the time we can afford them.|||A n a r c h y|||Sounds fine to me. I like the "when it's done" philosophy, but from all appearances that's getting pretty close anyway. So as long as its secondary things like extra vanity systems that are getting pushed back and not primary mechanics, balance, content, etc, I'm ok with it. Besides, I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME RIGHT NOW. So. There's that.
