I feel there should be a little more rewards, example given:
Unlockable pets for rangers
--------------------------
Unlockable turret skins for Engineers.
(15 points unlock alternative rifle turret skin)
(20 points unlock alternative healing turret skin)
And so on and so on.
--------------------------
I feel that this is a good idea because Engineers have limited use for Hall of Monuments rewards.
A Warrior could use almost all rewarded items from the calculator.
An Engineer can only use : Pistol, Rifle, Shield, Heritage Armor, Gloves & Mini pets.
A Warrior can use: Rifle, Longbow, Greatsword, Sword, Mace, Axe, Shield, Warhorn, Hammer, Heritage Armor, Gloves, Mini pets.
See where i'm getting at? No need to overdo it ! Just a little love from ANet after seeing that laughable thingy on sticks they call a turret !
Discuss !|||This is true for all other professions, too.
There is one weapon of each type, so an Elementalist e.g. gets very few usable items as the Engineer, because he has less weapons available than most other classes.|||Let's review this...
All professions get (provided you unlocked it):
* 1 full armor set (heritage armor).
* 10 titles + GWAMM
* 4 mini-pets.
* 4 stand-alone armor items (2 gloves and 2 headpieces).
Rangers get:
* 4 ranger animal companions.
Professions also get a selection of:
* 16 weapons: G 9, W 9, En 3, R 8, Th 4, El 4, N 6.
Engineers have thus 6 less usable items than guardians or warriors... and thieves and eles have 5 less usable items.|||One weapon of each type, this is not a HoM issue it’s an issue of available weapons to the Class. Personally I would have liked to see a back up melee weapon for the class but they chose not to do it. It makes sense that in an era where your weapon should have a long recharge or reload that you would have a melee weapon to fall back on, but The engineer is gimped in that, better off being a Thief.
Having different skins for the turrets that should not be, is like having a different animation for a skill on the warrior. It’s like me wanting a different animation for final thrust because I am using a curved sword.|||A melee weapon for engineer would be sweet, especially if 1-handed, but looks like we won't be getting that... at least not at release. Maybe we can hope for a melee engineer option in expansion packs?
I'm not too concerned about it honestly. (1) I think there's going to be plenty of good weapon skins to choose from, and (2) the main reason I like HoM stuff is because it's free. Ok, some of the skins are nice.
I'm more concerned about how many weapon choices the engineer has (but given kits, that's ok) than how many weapon skins he has access to.
I mean... he has a firethrower. Who needs a fish gun when you can use a firethrower?|||Engineers get a rifle and pistol. Every class can use an item/weapon from the HoM rewards.
Edit: I wouldn't mind some sort of emote where the Engineer whacks their turret with their wrench though.|||Quote:

According to Eric Flannum, using a tool kit will make the engineer wield a wrench that he can hit people with. Sorry I don't have a link but he said it on the Guru forums.|||Guildoholic, you got your answer.
Yeah, looking forward to more info on that tool kit... I can't imagine what kind of wacky skills those bring up.|||Really? A wrench? I didn't know that... I somehow feel a Half Life Crowbar daydream coming up ... hold on it's coming...
*DROOOOOOOOOLLL*
But srsly, fix the turrets...

When the engineer equips the tool kit they have a wrench in their hand. One of the things they can do with said wrench is hit someone with it. I don't recall saying the "sidestepping mines" line btw so I think that came from TTH.

I don't think you need to exactly worry about reload times. And I doubt the skill recharges are any longer because "it's a gun" so really, the -need- for a melee weapon isn't there. Especially when your gun has skills designed for pushing/getting/keeping away from your enemy. Plus you can use a shield, which gives you more advantage in a melee fight then the spellcaster professions.
But that said, the engineer isn't really as neglected in the HoM more then any other profession as mentioned already. It just depends on the virtue of weapons really (I'm not sure what restrictions there will be on the armor pieces beyond the heritage set though.) So really, every profession is getting less then the ranger since they also get additional pets.
