[:1]A new interview with Jon Peters and Jonathan Sharp has some really cool info.

The question that really caught my eye was this one.
Quote:
Corsair: What was the single largest change to happen to any profession, besides the cuts?
Jon P: You havent seen it yet! Every profession goes through changes all the time. We will have a new demo at the summer conventions, and when you play the elementalist in that demo you will see some changes. Skills have been radically moved and changed around. While we felt the elementalist was good, it was only 8 out of 10. We want everything to be as good as it can possibly be and there wasnt enough synergy and decision making on the elementalist.
I dont want to say we scrapped it, but we basically ripped the whole thing apart and reconfigured where we felt everything needed to go. Youre going to see things like that, potentially, for every profession.
I know someone was asking about the removal of the extra damage on the warrior and that might come back as a trait as things are constantly changing. We try to say we dont show things until they are ready, but what we mean by that is we dont show stuff until we think its cool enough that people will think its awesome but that doesnt mean that we dont think we can make it even better than that.
I liked the look and feel of the Elementalist so I'm surprised to hear that it has been drastically changed. I'm excited to find out what the new version is!
The interview also mentions some major changes to Necromancers. I was fairly disappointed with the Death Shroud ability, so again I'm excited to hear that it's being reworked.
It's great to hear that stuff is still undergoing major changes because it means that sounding off about stuff we don't like or are concerned about isn't necessarily an exercise in futility. The bad thing about it is that it indicates we are still quite a long way from release.|||Tap-Repeatedly exclusive interview
(I put this here rather than General Discussion since the whole interview is devoted to the professions. Mods, please move if you think it best.)
There are quite a few bombshells dropped in this interview. At least two professions -- ele and necro -- have undergone major revisions since we last saw them, and one more -- ranger -- is due for some major changes, particularly with respect to pets.|||Quote:

Oh Noes, a Petless ranger. He will get so lonly ;)|||Great find! I also found this a bit earlier and posted this on the main site. Is there a way to create a box on the side or some other way here where people on the forum can see posts made to the front page (and vice versa) so as to prevent double-posts?|||Death shroud is not longer the downed state, necro has his own downed state. Death shroud also doesn't teleport you back when it ends. Sweet.
We'll get coverage of profession synergies after the last reveal. Glee.
As I suspected, generally more powerful skills tend to be further along the bar.
No profession can be played full damage or full support. Still, thieves can be very support-oriented.
Ranger pet AI still needs work, but they feel confident it'll be great by release.|||I sincerely hope they fix the ranger pet... Despite my plea for petless, I still want to play with a pet more often than not.
Thankfully, it's still #5 on my most preferred profs, so even after release they have some time to fix it. But I also don't want to start ranger when everyone's like lolpet.|||Very interesting, and the interview makes it official: suck it up, Engineer haters. The Engineer is supposed to be one of the hallmark classes of the game.|||Quote:

Teamed up with the Guardian.
I'm VERY curious how the classes will turn out to be in the next demo's.
I guess what we see with each release is pure eye candy to have a look at the game since they change practically everything all the time!

Very interesting to say the least ! I too had the feeling when watching Elementalist gameplay that it was very awesome to say the least but felt as it hadn't been perfected yet !
I could work for ArenaNet :) !|||What if the largest change is referring to mesmers and we're shadows of our former selves??? /conspiracymode off|||Quote:

You mean they are giving Death Shroud to the Mez?
