Not busy

[:1]The recent brain doodle written by Ravious made me wonder, what were the big things they revealed and could it give any insights on possible future information.
I made some graphs as well but whatever, the tables in the screenshot:
Big news stuff (excluding professions and races), starting with the first original trailer, counting the days that passed since then. I put in races of Tyria as well, but didn't include it in calculating WvWvW and possible release. The grouped (II) data is weird, which is why I grouped them together and took their average. I guess underwater combat got delayed for some reason where the PvP team was on schedule for the conventions. Grouped it shows there are about 156 days between each major reveal. So which big reveals are left, WvWvW and the final release. Which puts the release date of the game in 2012 about a month later than the original guild wars was released (28-04-2005). If the release of a release date is also big news stuff on their calendar the release would be somewhere in October. However, nothing like a good summer holiday to get your players addicted!
In all honesty I didnt try to make anything out of races, because it just didnt make sense at first sight and they are all announced anyways. Probably the Sylvari redesign messed anything logical up anyways. This obviously weakens my other dates
Professions, we have 7 already and are eager to hear about the last one. It took 273 days to get from the Elementalist to the day before the reveal of the Guardian. So another 273 days until the day before the reveal of the Mesmer results in 27 October 2011. 27 October will also be the day they announce when closed beta will take place. So it will be a big bang!
Well, its all pure speculation and probably bull****. But I was bored and decided to share it with you guys. If they are true to what they say Guild Wars 2 will be released when its ready.|||First note: release won't be in May of this year...
The rest, I mostly agree with. Except the release date itself. I think you should take into account the other chapters. Prophecies and Factions both arrived on April 28th. Nightfall came on October 27th (exactly half a year later...).
So, I think announcement of last profession in October, release on April 28th, 2012.|||Quote:

I have been wondering this myself. However they could be planning to have a completely different anniversary/birthday date for Guild Wars 2. The work load of having to have birthday celebrations coincide would be massive. They may want to spread it out a bit.|||The way I see it, there are two times a year when things can be released for the best effect. One is coming up soon: time for people to do some christmas shopping. But for a game like GW2, this might not be the best time as most people will want it from day 1 (and don't want it laying under the christmas tree!). The other is at the end of April, start of May. As Juiced said: no thing better than a summer holidays to get your people hooked!
Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to be released tomorrow! But I'd be so unhappy if it were after May 2012...|||It has been confirmed that GW2 will NOT be relased April 28. Since they do not want the anniversaries to coincide.|||So October 27th next year? That'd put as much space as possible between the anniversaries.|||Quote:

That would also be one day after LotRO's 5-year anniversary.|||yeah sometime middle to late next year was my ORIGINAL date for its release when I was asked 4 years ago!!! (should play the lottery----)|||I think given the "closed beta this year, depending on that, open beta, depending on that, release" line they've been repeating lately, I think Q2 next year is a lot more likely than Q3-4. It's very unlikely to go into closed beta this year and need 9 months before release.
I hate to keep bringing up LotRO, but it's what I have the most experience with. It started closed alpha in August 06. Closed beta Sept 06. Their open beta was only the pre-launch two week head start, but the last few weeks of closed beta might as well have been open. And it launched April 27, 2007. Eight months total beta time there, and it was in a MUCH less complete state than GW2 already is (hell, they didn't even give all the classes their L40-50 skills until the first few updates after launch).
If closed beta starts in Oct-Nov, I think we'll see a June release at the latest.|||there is something awfully idiotic about the tablet, look at release date and then at "reveal last profession" and you'll see the person making this doesn't really thinks things trough.
