[:1]I noticed on this pic - http://guildwars.incgamers.com/galle....php?photo=960 that there can be multiple events going on nearby at once. I was thinking this meant people will be running from event to event to get participation in each one for max rewards.
As of now do we know enough to say how much participation will be needed to get the rewards from an event, and thus once we reach that reward, we can run off and do the other event?
just to get some conversation going ;)|||You get rewarded even if the event fails so you never waste time participating in an event, but keep in mind that the reward will be lower. So, it's not clear whether you're better off staying (and increasing the chances of a win) or running between events to collect more of them. Also keep in mind that events are usually chains, meaning that if you complete an event here, another is likely to start nearby.
That being said...
Each even has its own criteria, but if you know the criteria, then they are not difficult to max. In most cases though, events won't overlap (unless they're chained, that is) so you'd have to do some running around, hence wasting time... events also run for a duration.
What I'm saying is that there's a tradeoff between staying for an event and help get the win (and hence max reward), and running between events (hence wasting time traveling) and risking getting incomplete rewards (because you got there too late to reach criteria and/or the event failed). In theory, it's possible to balance rewards, criteria, and distances to make it more worthwhile for you to complete events.
What I think ANet is going for is to reward you most for finishing events, while not punish you too harshly if you decide to move to a new event that you'd rather do. The more you run from event to event, the less reward per hour you actually get.|||It looks to me like, while separate, those two events are linked. If you were to defend the Ascalon settlement, you'd probably run into the centaur war beast.|||while that does seem entirely possible, it just told everyone at that event to stop what they are doing and kill the war beast. Perhaps that is what it is intended to do...|||and what if holding the lines and killing the war beast isn't entirely unconnected?|||To be clear, there will be many cases where there will be multiple events going on nearby, and sometimes even overlapping. The question is valid, as far as what we know from official sources.
If the events are really nearby, it would make sense to participate in both. Though I still think you'd have to be lucky (for more than one event to occur nearby enough for being able to run both) and organized (to know the cutoffs for max reward) to pull that off consistently... most people will find it best to pick one event at a time and see it through.|||I'm more interested in what happens when events overlap in the same location, since I'm not concerned about running around trying to maximize profit. One example they gave early on was a weather-related event, in which a storm blows in and starts spawning lightning elementals. It seems to me this could easily happen during the course of another event, such as defending a town. Trying to deal with both events at once could be quite a challenge.
Then one has to wonder if, say, the centaurs might try to attack a town that's already been taken over by pirates. Do you stop the centaurs and then chase out the pirates? Or chase out the pirates and then defend the town from the centaurs? Or let them battle it out and take on the winner?|||I'd think in many cases the two types of foes would fight each other... that'd be the easiest way to code it so you don't get impossible scenarios. Besides, three factions fighting for control of a city sounds like a lot of fun.|||Death to gold sellers! I hope that gw2 will be set up in such a way that your kind can be quickly /reported and banned Azurasky!|||And I was singing bye bye mr azureasky
