Jon Peters on the new Gamescom Demo

[:1]Who needs a source anyway?
The most relevant bit from my opinion:

Quote:

Energy
Skills no longer cost energy. This means energy potions are also gone. (Sorry to everyone who so vehemently helped us defend their existence.) In place of the energy-potion button is a new dodge button. This allows players to use the mouse to dodge and lets players bind dodge to a single keystroke. If you are moving in a direction, the dodge will take that into account and dodge in that direction. If you are not moving, you will dodge backward. Dodging now also evades attacks, making it a more effective and understandable way to avoid big creature attacks or to get out of AoE spells. Dodging is limited by energy, which regenerates over time.
We have a new long-term replacement for the other benefits that energy potions provided to our system, but since it is not in the game yet, we arent talking about it.

Potions? In my GW2? Yeah, right...|||After the QQ about potions being in the game, let's see some QQ about potions NOT being in the game now! Hahah.
Nah just kidding, I wonder what they replaced that with.
Also, blablabla we change stuff so it's better blablabla. Sounds awesome.|||Yeah I was happy to see the potions gone, but I am wondering as to what the new system will be. I doubt they'll just leave energy/mana/etc out of it completely.|||I'm very happy that they finally took out potions.
I'm also interested in the skill acquisition.. The dodge mechanic sounds really cool (and it makes sense). I feel like it's going to be a lot smoother.
Weapon skill changes were a must, and I'm excited to see how they improved on all the events and boss monsters.
So many new and wonderful features. I'm excited to see a glimpse of the character customization, BUT the 8 hairstyle limit worries me. Hopefully this is just a gimped version for their demo..
They're doing a great job and they're on the right direction. Just gonna' have to see how this all turns out. Soooon.|||8 hairstyles is way too little, I expect we'll have more by release though. Honestly, hairstyle is by far the most important and visible feature...|||Quote:

Oh yes, it really is.|||I'm pretty sure there'll be more than just 8 guys.
This is looking to be a pretty interesting week. It sounds like there's a lot of awesome coming.|||WOOHOOO no pots! This mmo just got a whole lot sexier!
Wow! I love this company more!
Wow! So going ranger on my first character! Female ragner with a pet and a GREATSWORD! I hate 2h stuff, i don't anymore!
And wow, guardian got updated!|||No energy for skills?! Don't get me wrong, I'm just as happy as everyone else to see potions gone, I'm just surprised they're taking such an unconventional route. As always, will wait until getting details before passing judgment.
The fact that they're still making such major changes to the core combat system makes me worry that a beta/release is a long ways off. Come on ANet, all my friends are talking about Old Republic, I need something too
Not sure how I feel about the new skill acquisition system. If it works how it sounds like it does (earn/level up skills by using the weapon X number of times), a lot of people may be tempted to grind their weapon skills on level 1 mobs first instead of acquiring them while actually playing the game.
Yay for character customization. Agreed with Alaris that more than eight hairstyles are important to have, but I'm liking the diversity of colors at least.|||So skills don't cost energy, now what do they cost? perhaps if it's charged it goes...
But there is still energy in the game.
I tend to not like the too many choices for character customization. Five slider just for my nose...sounds like a headache.
