[:1]Motivation: I want Anet to get the best bang for the bug out of the exposure that these trades shows give. As a player and fan, I also want to have as much exposure to the game as possible.
Note: I am not trying to command what Anet should do. Anet's public relations team is already doing a great job! This is just food for thought and consideration in case the public relations team has not thought of this yet (however unlikely).
Inspiration: E3 SW:TOR coverage
Requests:
- There was one item that for me stood out: Normally, E3 coverage is mainly for reporters of the industry - not so much for fans. But Bioware still managed to reach out to the fans by doing a game-play demo of their life game. The game-play demo was accompanied by life streaming video footage (recorded for those who could not make it), and a live chat room where (about 6000) fans around the world could ask questions and give live comments as the demo progressed. What I liked: The presenters took the time to answer some questions asked on those forums. My request is to replicate this sort of event to Gamescom and PAX in order to reach an even wider audience.
Like (would you second this request)? Dislike? What other suggestions do you have for Anet to make these trades shows an awesome experience for both Anet and us starving fans?|||Quote:

It's a great idea at E3, it's a good idea at any other convention. I don't know how much effort it would be to set up the livestream, nor how much it would cost, and in that regard it may not be worthwhile at other events for two reasons:
(1) E3 stand space is insanely expensive. Whatever the costs of such a livestream they pale in comparison to just being present at E3.
(2) E3 doesn't allow people outside the industry*. Both GamesCom and PAX do, it's kinda their hallmark. Because of this, the direct interview doesn't add much more value. There'll be plenty of fan feedback anyway.
Some minor tidbits:
Bang for your buck (NOT bang for the bug)
live game (not life game)
What's the difference between the GW2 demo as present at (PAX/GC) vs. SWTOR's live game as present at E3?
*Though the term industry should be taken lightly.|||I'd rather structured interviews + demos...
I feel that livefeed + fan interaction can be done outside of conferences, so it would be a great thing to do outside. Also, from listening the questions at SWTOR I found most questions were boring...
It's great that they did that, but honestly, it has little value except for hype.|||I watched the live feed Bioware did for Dragon Age 2, they have a way of sidestepping controversial questions and just selecting the ones they want to answer. I bought the game because of their slick presentation, only to find it failed miserably to live up to the hype. I have more faith in the way Anet is doing things than the Bioware/EA way.|||Quote:

I agree. I watched an interview that Anet did like that and the fans spent alot of time just saying how cool Anet was and then asking questions like, "Are there still gonna be 8 skills in GW2?".|||Anet has surprised me again.
PLAY! and GW2 music! Love it! But my thesis is due 2 days later *CRY*
Still, ingenious! I hope somehow people who go can report back on how it was.|||Shame I live over a 1000 miles away, or I would probably go check it out.
