[:1]Didn't see this mentioned in the current topics, so appologies if this has been mentioned, but thaught it deserved it's own topic.
Checking Twitter, it was confirmed that the 3rd book is being written by Ree Soesbee and will be entitled "Sea of Sorrows".
No release date though, even an estimated one, but at least it has a title now
Wonder who / what it will focus on (Besides the sea of sorrows.......) maybe telling the tale of Zhaitans awakening perhaps?
[EDIT]

Yes (to Tsukasa). Elsewhere Ree said she's about halfway through writing, and that the book will involve the rise of Orr and the drowning of LA. So, figure we get pirates!
- Tsukasa|||Awesome. Looking forward to reading this. I hope it comes out before GW2.|||Wheeee.. I'm still working on the 2nd book (started it a few days ago) hopefully the 3rd book will come out soon so there's no gap for me =D|||Yes (to Tsukasa). What has she been doing, working on a game or something?|||Quote:

Drowning of LA? Isn't it even bigger in 2 than it was in 1?|||I just checked the chronology of the books, from the time line, it seems like the books are going backwards...|||Quote:

Ah thanks for clarifying that, thats awesome news!

The LA we know now is underwater in GW2, the new Lions arch is built on the cliffs that surround the GW1 LA
(Map of GW2 LA inside the spoiler)
Spoiler
See where it says "Old Lions Arch"? that's where the current GW1 LA is, as indicated by the location of Lion's gate on that map (I believe Lion's gate is the gate near the Xunlai Agents)
So yeah Lion's arch gets submerged when Zhaitan rises, and they rebuild LA on the cliffs above.

Yes. But the flood happened during the period between the two games, over 100 years before GW2 begins. After the flood, Divinity's Reach was built as the new capital of Kryta and LA was abandoned. Pirates took over the ruins as the waters started to recede and rebuilt LA as an independent city-state.
Edit: not all of the old LA ended up underwater. Note from the map Tsukasa posted that Lion's Gate is still there, and I believe the lighthouse still remains. I think we will see some other artifacts on land, plus being able to explore the part underwater. (IIRC, that part has been taken over by the quaggan.) I believe the area labeled "Shuttered Gate" is where the asura gate to EotN used to be.|||I'm really looking forward to this book! I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books, and I find Ree's stories in her blog posts immensely engaging, so a complete novel written in her style has me giddy with anticipation!
