Beta releases dates? In my GW2?

Yeah, the title does not deceive.
It's official, GW2 will start closed alpha and beta tests in 2011. The feedback of these tests (as in, if they go well or not) will determine the release date of the open beta and the shipping date of the final product.
In other words, nothing has really changed. Just that now we know the testing will begin this year.
For the skeptics, here is the link.
Now you can thank me by giving me bacon, cookies and any other assortment of internet currency.|||Of course, it bears emphasizing that the blurb only states closed alpha/beta tests. We may very well not see a public beta in the next 11 months.
Still, the fact that ANet has given any sort of time frame at all is good news.|||Wasn't it said somewhere that there wouldn't be an open beta, only closed? I suppose they could change their minds though.|||They said open beta would be a lot closer to release, as in when the game is a lot more polished.
Unlike GW1 who started open betas well before it's prime.
When I saw the thread title, I was expecting some noob saying "eh when's beta and stuff is this vaporware". Then I saw Nem posted it, and I got all excited ;)|||Quote:

I'm soooooo gooood!|||Well, there are perks to having intelligent posts, you know.|||Quote:

Oh, that's right! /der|||Anet, /pawn to D-3
Blizzards move...|||Looking forward to both Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3. I will buy Guild Wars 2 on release. Collector`s edition too.
I might wait until Diablo 3 hits the bargain bins. I don`t care about online play so waiting a few months (or years) is fine by me.
Looking forward to info on the secret Blizzard project. I know Blizz to make quality fun games, I just hope they don`t WoW-clone it.|||Blizzard's king can move anywhere, it's checkmate before the game begins.

OT: Confirmation is always good. OP makes me happy.
