PAX East Media Coverage and Discussion Thread

So PAX East is upon us! And it seems Anet is letting lose with the media coverage. I did a search and am summarizing link findings here since no one else has posted them.
First, we have Anet's PAX East Blog post with a tease on the thief.
The trailer is here.
Personal comment: The tease would have worked were it not for freaking GDC messing things up by jumping the gun.
We have a PC Gamer article that includes 10 minutes of almost continuous video footage as a bonus!
Personal comment: This is a treasure trove of findings. I looked at it. There is soooo much there. Is that PvP footage of known professions we are seeing there? What are your impressions of the article and video?
There is also a behind the scenes video on Youtube. I, however, found the link here first.
Personal comment: I love behind the scenes interviews!
Next up, Eric Flannum announces what and when Arenanet will release in terms of information this week in a blog post. The most essential part has been quoted below, but I encourage all to read the actual article.

Quote:

Tuesday: Lead Systems Designer and all-around-great guy Isaiah Cartwright Esquire the Third will talk about the revamped attributes system in an in-depth blog post.
Wednesday: Game Designer Andrew McLeod will give you some insight into Guild Wars 2’s crafting and gathering systems.
Friday: The thief page goes live on GuildWars2.com, complete with skill videos and all the usual bells and whistles you expect from a profession reveal.
Friday: We’ll send you an update from the floor of PAX East!

Personal Comment: I am not sure about you all, but I do love their recent structured preview of what to expect along the week posts.
I'll post more here as I find them, and encourage you all to do the same.|||Quote:

There appears to be a Necromancer with a Scythe. At least a character doing Necromancer type things whilst holding a Scythe. The website says that the only 2 handed weapon for a Necro is staff, so it could just be that is the Necro's "staff".
There are also a lot of Charr with Rifles, is this the first time we have seen rifles in action?
I am not sure I have seen the Lightning Elementalist attacks before, they remind me of Yoda using the force.|||I watched the 10 min combat video (PvP?):
Looks like there are some new Ele spells used (especially Air ones ... Lightning Bolt!) in the demo.
I don't like the Charr in robes ... so a Charr caster is more and more unlikely for me.|||That's not PvP, it's an event outside Lion's Arch. The enemies are humanoid (lots of charr pirates).

It's a skill that makes the staff to have something like the blade of a scythe. You can see the blade appearing and later disappearing in that same video. No scythes in the game.|||Quote:

:O So what if it's a skill instead of an actual scythe, probability of me making a necro first went from 99.9% to 100%, and I am so getting that skill asap! My female Sylvari w/ the name of Reaper of Men shall be a necro now, woot.
Now if only I could watch those videos. Going to be about 5 hours before I can :S|||It was a scythe like it was made of black smoke. Really cool thing. My norn will look sick with that (because I might make a norn necro).|||Interview with Eric Flannum about multiple things

Charr Thief with bow (teleport where you shoot as skill 5?)

Charr Thief with daggers

Charr Thief with sword, pistol & trap skills

more pistol skills|||10 min gameplay video, amazing.
Only nitpick?
Really jerky animation transitions. Wow. Specifically, I mean the transitioning from a mob attacking one person to attacking another person, as they'd instantaneously turn, rather than there being a smooth turning animation. You can see the same things happen with the player characters as they adjust positions or get new targets. Really distracting. Luckily that's relatively minor, should be taken care of as they polish the game before release.|||Quote:

Animations as a whole need some help. The charr boss in the same video, staggering every few seconds while under attack, looked extremely weird; the character animations in the norn cinematic weren't the smoothest thing in the game, either.
EDIT: Some more stuff here as well, including a crafting screen. This video is interesting.
Erasculio|||Couple of screenshots from the teaser video since they go by so fast:
